Title: A Clash of Kings Book Two of A Song of Ice and Fire

Author: George R.R. Martin

Summary: A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war. It is a tale in which brother plots against brother and the dead rise to walk in the night. Here a princess masquerades as an orphan boy; a knight of the mind prepares a poison for a treacherous sorceress; and wild men descend from the Mountains of the Moon to ravage the countryside. Against a backdrop of incest and fraticide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel...and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles.

Review: Once again, George R.R. Martin dazzled the readers with this sequel to the bestseller A Game of Thrones. The actions never let down and the suspense of the plot keeps the readers' interest from the beginning all the way to the end. Eddard Stark is dead, executed on the command of the new king on the Iron Throne, a thirteen year old boy named Joffrey Baratheon who's the heir to the dead King Robert Baratheon. The land is in turmoil and the Houses of the Nobles cry out for war. Robb Stark, the eldest son of Eddard Stark declares himself King of the North and seeks to avenge his late father. Other lords of noble birth also seek claim to the Iron Throne, gathering their army for the inevitable. The Lannisters, whom almost everyone hated, has taken over the Iron Throne through incest and betrayals. Everything is in chaos and no one in the land is safe from the civil war that is to come.

I was so captivatd by this sequel. I really enjoyed A Game of Thrones and I knew that this sequel would not disappoint me. The story went smoothly with superb actions that connect with the plot itself. Everything in the book really makes you feel that it is all realistic, regarding the characters, the intrigues, and the very human nature of the people in the story. This is truly a great piece of fantasy fiction in my opinion. It definitely deserves my praise and welcoming.
