Title: To Green Angel Tower / Book Three of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn Author: Tad Williams Summary: As the evil minions of the undead Sithi Storm King prepare for the kingdom-shattering culmination of their dark sorceries and King Elias is drawn ever deeper into their nightmarish, spell-spun world, the loyal allies of Prince Josua desperately struggle to rally their forces at the Stone of Farewell. And with time running out, the remaining members of the now devastated League of the Scroll have also gathered there to unravel mysteries from the forgotten past. For if the League can reclaim these age-old secrets of magic long-buried beneath the dusts of time, they may be able to reveal to Josua and his army the only means of striking down the unslayable foe. But whether or not the League is successful in its quest, the call of battle will lead the valiant followers of Josua Lackhand across storm-tossed seas brimming with bloodthirsty kilpa...through forests swarming with those both mind- and soul-lost...through ancient caverns built by the legendary Dwarrows...to the haunted halls of Asu'a itself -- the Sithi's greatest stronghold! Review: The third volume of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn was originally published as one book in hardcover format. The book has been split into two volumes for paperback release because it was so big that one volume paperback would not be sufficient. Josua and his army are making a final stand against their foes at the Stone of Farewell, their only place of refuge. Strategies are planned, allies are gathered and the showdown between good and evil begins. Characters are reunited, quests are begun, and the Storm King and his minions begin their final assault. As all of this goes on, Binabik, Simon and the other members of The League Of The Scroll attempt to decipher the secret behind the three magical swords Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. They discovers that there was more to the three swords then they had thought before. The result of their new knowledge turns the table as they seek to remedy the Storm King's threat. This last volume was the most exhilirating tale I've read so far. Tad Williams once again grips the readers into the story with a good plot as well as subplots, intriguing characters, and excellent description of his settings. He builds his story up to the final climactic showdown, between two forces seeking to overthrow one another, with such vigor and excitement that I felt I couldn't released the book until I have read to the very end. A refreshing fantasy series that I've read since The Lord of the Rings. There are lots of creativity and imagination by Tad Williams which made the whole three volumes so entertaining. Definitely a great treat!!! Rating: 10 out of 10
