Title: The Last Guardian

Author: David Gemmell

Summary: While the earth quaked, a deadly power burst forth from ancient Atlantis. For the gate of time had been torn open, freeing a cataclysmic evil.

Only the last guardian, Jon Shannow, the legendary pistoleer, could shut the deadly portal. But to accomplish this he would have to find the shining Sword of God, said to be floating among the clouds in the perilous lands beyond the wall, where beasts walk like men and worship a dark goddess. As Shannow embarked on his impossible quest, demons gathered in wait.

And--somewhere--a golden-haired woman was dreaming of blood...

Review: The story continues where Wolf in Shadow left off. Shannow is once again alone, left his lover to another man. Wounded while saving a mother and daugher from brigands, he's on the verge of death but as always death never glances his way. He's saved by a manbeast. Still in self-doubt and alone, he travels on to search for his city Jerusalem. Circumstances brought him to a little village known as Pilgrim's Valley and there he faces more troubles than he had bargained for. And trouble does not end there, for Jon Shannow will face a greater foe beyond human as he battles evil head-on, pistols blazing...

David Gemmell tells a great tale of real adventure. There's always great sequences that occurs throughout the whole story. His characters as always are believable. He writes with such finesse and realism. The story, the characters, and the settings are incorporated into a single bond that gives a feeling that you're actually seeing it all right there and then. The book is entertaining and once you read it, you'll be hook. Truly a worthwhole book to recognize.
