The Noble House of Keiranh
The musical ballad traditions of the Great House of Keiranh signify origins significantly before the time of the Great Exodus. In The Ballod of t'Keiranh, perhaps the family's most noted and beautiful song, the family's lineage descends from a series of musicians serving the Vulcan Nobility.
Disappointed and disillusioned by the turn on Vulcan away from beauty and towards functionality, some fifty-odd members of the soon-to-be House helped to form the Declared for the journey to ch'Rihan. On arrival at the new homeworld, the House had been formally Founded and had grown to almost three hundred.
Settling the foundation of the present-day city of Lloell, these initial founders of the House are remembered in song for their hardship and sacrifice. The Ballad of Lhoda and Dhiraod commemorates a member of the House and his lover, shunned by society, who wrote some of the most beautiful song and music in Rihannsu history.
The classical Great Hall t'Keiranh stands alone on the top of a almost perfectly round hill of several hundred meters height. Known by family members as the Dream Hall, the mystical elements of the House cannot be overlooked -- something in that house hearkens back to the days of yore, when life was simpler and more beautiful. The Hall itself is often used by the musicians of the house as a retreat in order to compose; indeed, S'roal t'Keiranh once locked himself in his private quarters (of which there are over one thousand) for more than a month to produce the Fourteenth mezzoviol concerto, hailed as the greatest musical work of his generation.
In addition to the House's musical leaning, it has also produced quasi-revolutionary politicians. During the Great Upheaval, one of the more turbulent episodes of Rihannsu history, it was K'stro t'Keiranh who assumed the reins of Praetor, bringing the Empire back under control, and the present Chief Praetorian Advisor is a member of the House.
In more recent generations, following the assimilation of House t'Llinna, the House has also produced engineers. The Great Span of Lloell, built with money from the House, and traversing the Lloell River, was designed by O'rimus t'Keiranh and is hailed as one of the architectural masterpieces of the modern era. Similarly, the House's engineers had a significant input in the adoption of the quantum singularity warp core as the power system in D'deridex-class warbirds.
With the death of Marisa t'Keiranh, the most renowned of all the t'Keiranh female singers, the House has been searching for a successor to the role. With increased competition from other houses, t'Keiranh has looked (but has not found as yet) to Dhael, etrhafwe'saehne (Chief Engineer) of the IRV Rakata, a ship currently assigned to Bravo Fleet, a lloannha military grouping. Dhael, however, has seen fit to remain as an Engineer for as long as she is able before pursuing the songstress blood which runs deep within her soul.
