As an exercise in thrift, this month's gallery displays the one dollar's
worth of ugly ties purchased at the Superthrift (NewFalls Road, Levittown,
PA). As part of a clearance sale, I purchased a plastic bag of merchandise
for a buck. I had some help from some friends. So I bought more
than ties -- not shown here -- and I bought ties that I did not think were
ugly enough. Why are thrift stores such good sources for ugly ties? I'm sure they are repositories for much of the extra and useless products of society. Ugly ties are just an example. Besides they tend to have longer lives than other garments that might be worn and, hence, worn-out. So how much ugly will a dollar buy? About fifteen ties. |
