Buckler-Carver

PORTLAND, May 13 [1943] -- The marriage of Alice Elizabeth Carver, formerly of Washburn, and Sgt. Joseph Leo Buckler, of Louisville, Ky., took place May 6 at the harbor defense chapel, Father Reddington officiating. Organ music was played by a friend of the bridegroom.

The couple was attended by Mrs. Ray Morin of Lewiston, and Roger J. Dyer of Portland.

The bride wore a street length dress of aqua with a net skirt and matching veil. Her corsage was pink talisman roses. Mrs. Morin wore a navy blue dress with matching accessories and a corsage of roses. The bride's mother wore a dress of navy blue with a corsage of sweet peas.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the Roma cafe.

The bride chose a traveling suite of gray and red with matching accessories. Sgt. and Mrs. Buckler left for a wedding trip to New York and Louisville, and will return to Portland May 15.

Mrs. Buckler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Carver of Washburn. She was graduated from Washburn High school and the Academy Moderne in Boston and is employed at Porteous, Mitchell and Braun in Portland. Sgt. Buckler is a graduate of St. Augustine High school in Lebany, Ky., and the University of Notre Dame. He is serving with the Finance Bureau of the U. S. Army at the Harbor Defenses of Portland.

The bride was honored guest at a shower given recently at the home of Mrs. Roger J. Dyer in Portland.
