Washburn Man Takes Bride


Mary E. Wright and Edmund F. Knox Wed in Nova Scotia
WASHBURN, Aug. 19 [1943] -- A wedding of local interest took place in Liverpool, Wednesday, August 11th at 4 o'clock in the Liverpool Baptist church when Miss Mary Elizabeth Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Wright of Liverpool became the bride of Edmund Franklin Knox, of Buffalo N. Y., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton E. Knox of Washburn. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. R. MacWilliam, assisted by Rev. W. J. Wright of Hebron, uncle of the bride. The wedding marches were played by Miss Irma Kelso. The bride was gowned in white georgette with lace yoke insert and three quarter Iength sleeves. The fitted bodice joined a full skirt which ended in a train, and her full length veil was of illusion caught in a coronet of white bouvardia. Her cascade bouquet was of gardenias, white roses and bouvardia.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her maid of honor, Miss Shirley Thompson, wore turquoise chiffon with touches of deep purple and a cap of purple tulle trimmed with pink and white flowers. Little Anna Heartz was the winsome flower girl. The bridegroom was attended by Lt. Douglas W. Lowe, R. C. N. V. R. Ushers were Walter R. Manning and William Mulhall. At a reception at the home following the wedding; the young couple were assisted in receiving by Mrs. Wright, mother of the bride. Assisted in serving refreshments were, Mrs. Kennedy Jones and the Misses Elizabeth Mulhall, Mary Cameron, Margaret Toggett, Phyllis Hendry and Jean Nickerson.

Mr. and Mrs. Knox arrived in Washburn Saturday and were honored with "Open House" by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Knox, Monday afternoon and evening at their home. Decorations were of garden flowers in each room. Many friends called during the day to offer congratulations. The bride and bridegroom received informally assisted by Mrs. Knox, mother of the bridegroom. Mrs. Knox was assisted in serving refreshments during the afternoon and evening by Gladys Knox of Mars Hill, Mrs. Quentin Jardine, Witha Jardine and Helen Knox. They left here Tuesday morning and will be at home to their friends September 1st at 120 Windemere Blvd., Buffalo, N, Y.

Mrs. Knox has been on the staff of the Royal Bank of Canada in Liverpool for the past three years, and Mr. Knox is assistant to military Liason Manager Curtis Wright Corp., Buffalo, N. Y.
