Lillian V. Manzer, Becomes Bride of Sgt. G. P. Colburn

WASHBURN, March 23 [1944]--Miss Lillian V. Manzer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Manzer of Washburn became the bride of Sgt. George P. Colburn of Farmington, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Colburn, at the home of the bride's parents in Washburn. The Rev. John L. Quigg of Sanford officiated, reading the double ring service.

The traditional wedding march was played by Miss Helen Knox. Miss Elizabeth Manzer was her sister's maid of honor, and Cueviere Colburn, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

The ceremony was performed under an arch of evergreen decorated with miniature flags. Baskets of yellow and white snapdragons, and jonquills decorated the Manzer home for the ceremony. The bride, who was given fn marriage by her father, was attractive in a white wool street length dress, with arm bouquet of white snapdragons and red roses. The maid of honor wore a dress of red wool with beige trimming and carried an arm bouquet of red roses and white snapdragons.

Mrs. Manzer, mother of the bride wore flowered jersey with corsage of white and lavender sweetpeas. The groom's mother was dressed in purple crepe with corsage of white roses. Other guests at the wedding were Miss Valerea Jameson, Mrs. Harold Umphrey, Dawn and Fred Manzer of Washburn; Miss Coleen Bassett, Mrs. Nelson MacCleod and daughter of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. John Colburn of Farmington.

The brides cake was served after the ceremony, followed by R wedding dinner at the Northeastland hotel in Presque Isle. Mr. and Mrs. Colburn left on the afternoon train for a brief wedding trip after which they will reside at 22 South Rose Ave., Kissimmee, Fla. The bride traveled in green wool gabardine with black and white accessories and corsage of white roses. The bride was graduated from Washburn High school in the class of 1940 and attended Maine School of Commerce in Bangor. For the past year she has been employed in defense work in Worcester.

The bridegroom graduated from Farmington High school, and attended Farmington Normal school. He was employed in Worcester before his induction into the army. At present he is located in the Medical division of the Army Air Corp at Kissimmee, Fla.
