WHITTEN--BARNARD
Cpl. John Whitten, 2nd son of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Whitten of Washburn and Jennie Isabelle
Barnard, daughter of Albert D. Barnard of Blue Springs, Mo., were united in marriage Saturday
evening at 7 o'clock, June 30 [1945 at the home of the groom's parents. They were attended by
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Humphrey of Presque Isle. The double ring ceremony was performed by
Rev. N. E. Felch of the Baptist Church in the presence of immediate relatives.
Following the ceremony refreshments were served by the groom's mother and aunt. After a few
days spent at Portage Lake, Cpl. and Mrs. Whitten will return to Missouri where he is located at
Sedalia Army Air Field.
Mr. and Mrs. Dexter Chase and son Gene of Presque Isle; Mr, and Mrs. Harold Stoddard of Fort
Fairfield; Mrs. Maude Lovely, aunt of the groom; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whitten of town were
guests at the wedding.
