Maxine Louise Holts And Sgt. Blackstone Married In Perham

PERHAM, Aug. 7 [1945] -- The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Holts of Perham was the scene of a pretty wedding on Sunday, July 22nd, at 3 p. m., when their granddaughter, Miss Maxine Louise Holts, daughter of Mrs. Audrey L. Holts of Fillmore, Calif., became the bride of Sgt. Philip F. Blackstone, son of Mr. and Mrs, Hartson Blackstone of Perham.

The maid of honor was Miss Dolores Jean Holts, cousin of the bride, and Hartson Blackstone, Jr. brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The bride was very pretty in her gown of light blue chiffon with fingertip veil and corsage of white gardenias. The maid of honor wore rose, orchid of taffeta and net with corsage of white gardenias.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Seldon L. Holts. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Read Blackstone. Miss Barbara Blackstone, cousin of the bridegroom, played appropriate selections.

The bridal party entered the room, which was decorated with white phlox and blue delphinium, where the ceremony took place before about 55 relatives and friends. On the table was a beautiful three-tier wedding cake which the bride and bridegroom cut in the traditional fashion. Mrs. Vivian Holts had charge of the bride's table and cut the wedding cake. Refreshments were served. Miss Patrice McIntire, cousin of the bride, had charge of the guest book.

A reception was held for them on Monday evening at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hartson Blackstone. Over 300 guests were present. They received many beautiful and useful gifts, including $126 in money. The happy couple left on the train Tuesday morning for Laredo, Tex., where Sgt. Blackstone is now stationed.
