Born in Carlow, Carleton County, N. B., she came to Washburn as the bride of Mr. H. D. McManus fifty years ago in June. Six children were born of this union, five of who survive; two sons, Harry a lawyer of Van Buren, and Matthew, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Freeman, postmistress at Washburn, Mrs. Annie Martin of Eagle Lake, Miss Lillian McManus, R. N. of Presque Isle General Hospital Staff. She also leaves besides her aged husband, seven grandchildren, two nieces and 3 nephews. Mrs. McManus was a devoted Christian mother and her life was spent in service to her family and her God. She will be greatly missed by her immediate family also a circle of neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held from St. Marys' Catholic Church in Presque Isle Saturday at 9 o'clock with Father Feeney officiating.
The bearers were a cousin, Moses Brennan of Canada, Paul Thomas Michaud, Milford Blackstone, Thomas Herrick, Albion Thompson and Harold Ballard.
Burial was in the family lot at Johnville. Committal services were held by Father Feeney with Frs. Oram and Warner of Johnville, assisting. Attending the service were relatives aud friends from Eagle' Lake, Van Buren, Canada, Caribou, Washburn and Presque Isle. There were many beautiful flowers, a memorial to the departed wife, mother and friend.
