BOMBARDIER -- Aviation student Glenn T. Whitten, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbridge N. Whitten of Washburn, a recent graduate of the Army Air Forces bombardier school, Kirtland Field, N. M., has been commissioned a second lieutenant and awarded the silver "wings" of the aerial bombardier. Lieut. Whitten is a graduate of Washburn High school, class of 1938, where as an undergraduate he was a member of the tennis team, public speaking and dramatic societies. In civilian life he was employed as a truck operator. He is married to the former Nettie M. Egger of Amory, Miss., where the couple made their home. They have one child. Glenda M.

Prior to his successful completion of 18 weeks of night and combat training in precision bombing and navigation at Kirtland Field, Lieut. Whitten was stationed at the Santa Ana (Calif.) Army Air base.
