Presque Isle Girl Weds Paratrooper

PRESQUE ISLE, March 28 [1946] -- Mrs. Robert Roope, Presque Isle, announces the marriage of her daughter, Miss Jean Thompson to Sgt. George Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Baker of Washburn. The wedding service was at the United Baptist church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Donald Thompson of Danforth, brother of the bride, officiating, assisted by Rev. Philip Hughey, pastor of the Baptist church in Presque Isle.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Keith Thompson. Dorothy Thompson, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Ruth Spear of Presque Isle was bridesmaid and Claire Loueway of Crouseville was best man.

A reception followed the ceremony in the church vestry, Mrs. Barker was graduated from Presque Isle high school, attended the Bangor Maine School of Commerce and for the past two and a half years has been employed by the Maine Potato Growers in Presque Isle, where she is still employed.

The bridegroom was graduated from Washburn high school and for the past four and a half years has been in the U. S. Army Paratroopers and at present is stationed at Lowell General hospital, Fort Devens, Mass.
