Miss Alwilda Grey Becomes Bride Of Harold A. Munson

FORT FAIRFIELD, July 3 [1946] - Miss Alwilda Grey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene J. Corey of this town and Harold Arthur Munson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Munson of Washburn were married Monday evening, June 24th [1946] at 8 o'clock in a candlelight ceremony at the United Parish Church, Rev, John Olsen officiated and the double ring ceremony was performed.

The bride was given in marriage by her father Eugene Grey, Mrs. Gertrude Krigir sang "Oh Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly" before the ceremony with Fred Kilburn accompanist. Mr. Kilburn also played the wedding marches.

The couple was attended by Miss Emma Grey, sister of the bride, as maid of honor Miss Jean Black, and Miss Marian Munson, sister of the bridegroom as bride's maid with Harold Bugbee of Washburn as best man. The ushers were Maurice Russell of Washburn and Curtis Thompson of Limestone. The bride was gowned in white satin with long sleeves ending in pointed cuffs, a modified cowl neckline and peplum front. The full net overskirt was fashioned en train and her finger tip veil of net fell from a tiara of seed pearls. Her bouquet was white carnations and lilies of the valley. The maid of honor was attired in pastel blue chiffon and she carried pink carnations. Miss Munson wore pink and her bouquet was of coral carnations and Miss Black wore aqua and carried Colonial bouquet of yellow carnations. The attendants wore head bands of carnations.

Mrs. Grey mother of the bride wore aqua crepe with brown and white accessories with corsage of talisman roses. Mrs. Munson, mother of the bridegroom wore a grey floral print and white accessories with corsage of salmon roses. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home. Miss Flora Rogers was in charge of the guest book. The gift room hostesses were Mrs. Willard Price and Mrs. Donald DeMerchant. The three-tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and bridegroom was cut, by the bride at the reception. Mrs. Walter Reed, Sr., and Mrs. Robert Slipp poured. Assisting in serving were Mrs. George Nichols, Miss Grace Shaw, Miss Marguerite Van Buskirk of Fort Fairfield and Mrs. Curtis Thompson of Limestone. Mrs. Otto Palmer arranged the flowers at, the bride's home and Mrs. Jacqueline Pearce and Mrs. Irene Delano were in charge of the church decorations.

Following the reception Mr. and Mrs. Munson left for a week's trip along the coast. The bride's going away suit was sage green with dusty pink and white accessories, her corsage was of pink carnations

Mrs. Munson is a graduate of Fort Fairfield high school and Aroostook State Normal school and attended the University of Maine and has taught in Washburn and Limestone and for the past year has been the 4th grade teacher at the Fessenden building in Fort Fairfield.

Mr. Munson is a graduate of Washburn high school and shortly after his graduation enlisted in the Navy and served in both the European and Asiatic theatres.
