Washburn Man Takes Bride In Cummington, Mass.

WASHBURN, July 16 [1946] -- The marriage of Miss June Hope Mattis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Garceau of Cummington. Mass. to Norman D. Wilcox, Jr., took place recently at Cummington Congregational church. Rev. Dudley Burr officiated in a candlelight setting of mountain laurel and garden flowers. The double ring ceremony was used. Preceding the ceremony Clifton Sears, organist, and Werner Koenigsberger rendered two duets, Handel's "Largo" and "O Promise Me." Traditional wedding marches were played by Mr. Sears.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white chiffon gown with fitted bodice and full skirt and court train. Her fingertip veil was attached to a tiara of white roses and she carried a cascade bouquet of white rosebuds and white sweet peas.

Mrs. Jack Steels of Alexandria, Va., aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. She was dressed in a

blue crepe gown with lace inserts. She wore pink roses in her hair and carried a fan-shaped bouquet of pink delight roses.

Miss Helen Sears, bridesmaid, wore blue nylon with full skirt. She carried a fan-shaped bouquet of cavalier roses and her hair was caught with a tiara of blue nylon and cavalier roses. Sally King, a cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a white gown of mousseline de soir of Mother Hubbard style. She carried a basket of pink rose petals.

The bride's mother wore a gown of light gray crepe and a corsage of red rosebuds. Mrs. Wilcox, mother of the bridegroom, wore a flowered red silk jersey and a corsage of white gardenias.

William T. Perry was best man and ushers were Lincoln Howes and A1mon Howes, Jr.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home.

For traveling to Niagara Falls, N. Y. and Maine, the bride wore a sheer gray print dress with white accessories and a corsage of gardenias.

After July 21 the couple will make their home in Cummington. The bride was graduated from Dalton high school.

Mr. Wilcox attended schools in Maine and was in the Army Air Force for three years including 15 months in the Italian theater.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox are both employed at the Shepody fox farm.
