Frances Jardine, Arthur Clayton Wed In Caribou

WASHBURN, Aug. ll [1946] -- A simple wedding was solemnized recently when Miss Frances Eldora Jardine became the bride of Arthur H. Clayton both of Washburn. The ceremony was held in the presence of immediate relatives at the St. Luke's Mission house chapel, Caribou. The Rev. George Crooker Gibbs was the officiating clergyman. Attendants were Miss Frances M. Steeves, aunt of the bride, and Arthur L. Robinson; brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman L. Jardine, Washburn, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Clayton of Washburn.

The bride was graduated from the Washburn high school and the bridegroom attended the schools of Washburn and Lowell, Mass. He served in the U. S. Navy attached to the Marine Corps for three and one-half years, two years of which he spent in the Pacific theatre of operations.

At the present time the young couple are residing in Caribou, where Mr. Clayton is employed.

A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents with about 80 guests present. The gift table was in charge of Miss Mary Dickinson and Miss Helen Duncan attended the guest book with Miss Virginia Thompson presiding over the punch bowl.
