The home of Mr and Mrs Cornelius Pettengill was the scene of an unusually beautiful wedding at 7 o'clock Wednesday evening, Aug. 9, when Roberta Bagley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pettengill and Elmer Doak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doak were united in marriage by the Rev. Renhard Sand, pastor of the Washburn Pentecostal church. The double ring ceremony was performed in the presence of a number of friends and relatives.

An evergreen arch decorated with bride's bouquet and streamers of crepe paper formed a beautiful background for the ceremony.

The bride was lovely in a gown of white satin and net. Her finger-tip veil of lace edged net fell from a coronet of crushed velvet roses. Her only ornament was a pearl necklace. Her shoulder bouquet was of white lilies and snap dragon tied with a bow of white satin ribbon and ending in long streamers.

She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Betty Churchill, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and Calvin Pettengill, brother of the bride, acted as best man. Miss Churchill wore a floor length gown of blue chiffon and carried a colonial bouquet of mixed flowers.

Mrs. Wilmo Churchill played traditional wedding marches and accompanied Miss Elocile Churchill, who sang "I Love You Truly".

The bride's mother wore black and white jersey with a corsage of orchid sweet peas.

Mrs Doak, mother of the bridegroom wore navy blue with a corsage of mixed sweet peas.

An informal reception was held immediately following the ceremony at which over one hundred guests extended congratulations and good wishes. The large display of wedding gifts showed the high esteem in which the couple were held.

The bridal party was assisted in receiving by Mrs. Murray Allen, Jr. of Washburn.

Refreshments of assorted home made cakes, cookies and ice cream were served.

The attractive bride's table was centered by a beautifully decorated bride's cake. The first slice was cut by the bride as is the traditional custom. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Murray Allen, Sr., Mrs. Milford Churchill, Mrs. John Churchill, Mrs. Tapley, the Misses Elocile, Adina and Juanita C. Churchill and Evelyn Allen.

Mrs. Lila Marr was in charge of the guest book and Miss Lois Porter attended the gift table.
