ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT--

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Lancaster of Washburn, announced the engagement of their daughter, Kathleen M. Lancaster, to James N. Paddock of Batavia, Illinois, Saturday evening. Following the dinner hour contract was enjoyed. Guests present were Mrs. Milford Blackstone, Mrs. Frank Carver, Mrs. Laurel Thompson, Mrs. Woodbury Berce, Mrs. Malcolm Umphrey, Mrs. Levi Anderson, Mrs. Harry Umphrey, Mrs. Harold Learnard, Mrs. Albion Thompson, Mrs. Walter Churchill, Mrs. Ernest Umphrey, Mrs. Rusteen McIntire, all of Washburn. also Mrs. Charles Taylor and Mrs. Franklin Washburn of Presque Isle, Miss Lancaster is a graduate of Washburn high school, Aurora college and for the last three years has been teaching at Houlton high school. Mr. Paddock attended Aurora college and graduated from Northwestern Military academy. Since 1942 he has been an officer in the infantry and has just returned from Belgium. No date has been set for the wedding.
