PATTEN BRIDE--Mrs. Dale O. Bates, the former Margaret Myrick, was recently wed in the Baptist parsonage in Woodstock. N.B., Rev. Myron O. Brinton, pastor, reading the double-ring service.
The bride wore a suit of beige gabardine, with accessories of dark brown, and complemented her costume with a corsage of Talisman roses. Her only attendant was an intimate friend, Mrs. Donald McLaughlin of Oakfield, who wore a black dress with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses.
Mr. McLaughlin was best man.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Myrick. She is a student at Patten academy being graduated with the class of 1947.
She was prominent in extra-curricular activities throughout her school years.
Mr. Bates is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bates, Sr., of Moro. He served in the U. S. Navy, training at Sampson, N. Y., and later serving on the U. S. S. Indian Head. He was overseas nearly a year in the Pacific area before receiving his discharge in July, 1948, with the rating of ship fitter 3-c.
Mr. and Mrs. Bates will make their home in Patten, where he is employed by the bride's father, Ira
E. Myrick.
They were guests of honor at a reception held at the home of the bride's parents on Church street. The rooms had been attractively decorated for the occasion with cut flowers, cherry blossoms and white tapers.
Mrs. Celia McGillicuddy of Houlton, an aunt of the bride, was in charge of the gift table, while Miss Shirley Mitchell, a close friend of the bride, was in charge of the Guest book.
The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Helen Bates Mason, and was served by Mrs. Arabella Dickinson, after the traditional first slice had been cut by the bride and-bride-groom. Refreshments were served by Beatrice Birmingham, Betty Harvey, Margaret Quint and Anne Smallwood, classmates of the bride at Patten academy.
Out-of-town guests present for the event were Mr. and Mrs. David Watson.
