Washburn Couple Married 50 Years

Mr. and Mrs. John L. Story who were married in Washburn 50 years ago by Mr. Story's father James M. Story, justice of the peace, observed the day Wednesday, May 14 [1947] quietly at their home. Because of Mr. Story's illness it was impossible to have open house, but the day was made a happy one with the receiving of cards, telephone calls, flowers and a purse of money. Members of the family gathered in the evening for a social hour and refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Story, Delbert Story, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ireland of town, also Mrs. Mary Tilley of Bangor, and daughter, Mrs. Lois Wilson of Millinocket, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Story for the occasion.
