Perham Girl Is Wed To Everett Sperry

PERHAM, July 17 [1947] -- The Perham Baptist church was the scene of a recent wedding, when Miss Barbara McBraierty and Everett Sperry were united in holy matrimony. The ceremony was performed before 200 relatives and friends. Rev. Bernard Estes, pastor of the church, officiated, reading the double ring ceremony.

Mrs. Emma Dow played the Wedding March from Lohengrin, Nevin's Narcissus and Handel's Largo. Mrs. Lillian Harris sang He Leadeth Me, and I Love You Truly.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Hampton McBreaierty, was beautiful in a white satin gown trimmed with sequins. Her veil had a long train which was carried by her little niece, Nona Martin of Caribou, who wore a white with a veil. Mrs. Sperry wore a gold bracelet, the groom's gift to her. She carried a bridal bouquet of white roses and tulips. The little flower girl was Linda McBreaierty. She also wore white with a veil.

The maid of honor, Miss Joan Patten, was gowned in blue with a short veil. She carried a beautiful floral bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss Mary Blackstone of Perham and Miss Mavis Chase of Washburn. Miss Blackstone was gowned in yellow and Miss Chase in blue. They also wore short veils and carried bouquets.

The best man was Gardiner Sperry, brother of the bridegroom. The little ring Bearer was another brother of the bridegroom, Dale Sperry. The ushers were Hartson Blackstone, Jr., of Perham and Robert Brown of Washburn.

Mrs. Hampton McBreaierty, mother of the bride, wore navy blue with white accessories and a corsage of yellow tulips. Mrs. Guilford Sperry, the bridegroom's mother, also wore navy blue with white accessories. She wore a corsage of white tulips.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, with nearly three hundred guests present. Those who assisted in serving were Miss Delores Holts, Miss Dorothy Haley, Miss Glenna Sperry and Miss Alice Sperry, Miss Evelyn Martin of Caribou and Mrs. Pat Martin of Caribou were in charge of the gift table. After the bride and bride-groom had cut the first piece, Mrs. Lillian Harris cut and served the wedding cake. The guest book was in charge of Miss Glenna Sperry.

Among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. Ellen Connors of Bangor, Mrs. Lewis Baker of Houlton, Mrs. Walter Dickenson of Lincoln, and Mrs. Willie Walker, Mrs. Henry Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Elbridge McBreaierty all of Allagash.

Mrs. Sperry attended Caribou high school. Sperry is a graduate of Washburn high school and

served for twenty-two months in the armed services.

Following a short honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Sperry will be at home in Perham, where Mr. Sperry is engaged in farming with his father, Guilford Sperry.
