Miss Joyce Barton Is Wed In Caribou

CARIBOU, Jan. 4 [1948] -- Miss Joyce Marion Barton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Barton, Caribou, and Clayton Merle Blackstone, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Read Blackstone, Perham, were married recently at the United Baptist church of Caribou. The Rev. Read Blackstone, father of the bridegroom performed the double ring ceremony. The traditional wedding march was played by Wilma Blackstone, sister of the bridegroom. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white satin with a sweetheart neckline trimmed with seeded pearls, and a fingertip veil and caught with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of red and white roses.

The bridesmaid, Phyllis Barton, sister of the bride, wore peach net over taffeta with matching coronet. She carried a bouquet of talisman roses.

Donald Blackstone, a brother of bridegroom was best man. Sherwood Barton and Lloyd Blackstone were ushers.

The bride's mother wore a black and aqua, dress with a corsage of red roses. The groom's mother

wore a navy blue dress and also wore a corsage of red roses.

A reception was held in the church basement immediately following the ceremony. Betty Barton, youngest sister of the bride, had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Glenn Duff and Mrs. Weldon Smith, both of Hodgdon had charge of the gifts. Mrs. Harry Anderson, Caribou. cut the bride's cake, which was made by Mrs. Barton. Geneva Anderson, Serena Johnston and Norma Forbes of

Caribou; Helen Knox of Washburn, Wilma Blackstone of Perham, and Norma and Margaret Duff of Hodgdon served refreshments.

Mrs. Blackstone is a graduate of Fort Kent high school and Bob Jones University of Greenville, South Carolina. She taught last year in Caribou Junior high school. Mr. Blackstone is a graduate of Washburn high school and is engaged in farming with his father. The couple left for a trip to South Carolina. The bride travelled in a black gabardine suit and black and white top coat with matching accessories. Upon their return they will reside in Perham.
