Verdella Carter, Washburn, Bride of Kenneth Fox

Miss Verdella June Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Carter of Washburn, and Kenneth Lloyd Fox, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fox of Wade, were united in marriage at the United Baptist Church, Washburn, Wednesday February 18, [1948] at seven o'clock in the evening.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Reed Blackstone of Perham, uncle of the groom. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in ivory duchess satin entrain, with fingertip veil. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses. The maid of honor, Miss Joyce Smith, wore blue taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of red roses.

Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Carter, sister of the bride, and Miss Dathalene Paterson. Each wore pink taffeta and net gowns and carried bouquets of yellow and red carnations. The flower girl was Christine Nickerson dressed in yellow gown, with her sister Carolyn Nickerson, train bearer, in blue. Gary Fox, cousin of the groom, was ring bearer.

The ushers were Archie Silver and Wendell Blackstone, cousins of the groom. Harry Fox, brother of the groom was best man.

Mrs. J. Wilmont Churchill, organist, played the traditional wedding marches, also favorite selections. The Rev. Philip Hughey, Jr., sand "Always" and "I Love You Truly", accompanied by Mrs. Churchill at the organ.

Both the bride's and bridegroom's mothers wore navy blue with corsages of red roses.

The altar arch and background of the church were decorated in evergreen with snapdragons. Baskets of carnations and snapdragons were at each side of the altar.

A reception was held immediately following at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fox. Miss Betty Carter had charge of the guest book and Miss Day Paterson presided at the gift table.

Mrs. Quentin Jardine served the bride's cake after the first piece was cut by the bride and groom. A group of ladies assisted by several young ladies served refreshments.

After a wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Fox will reside at their farm home in Wade.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn high school and is engaged in teaching. The groom is also a graduate of Washburn high school and is engaged in farming at the present time.
