BRIDE IN MISSOURI -- Mrs. Maurice Russell, above, the former Miss June Andrew, was married recently in Independence, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Russell will live in Orono, where he is attending the University of Maine.

Maine Man Takes Bride In Missouri

WASHBURN, Feb. 4 [1948] -- Miss June Andrew, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Andrew of Independence, Mo., and Maurice Alexander Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Russell of Washburn were married recently in a double ring ceremony, read by Elder Glaude A. Smith at the Stone church in Independence.

WORE VELVET GOWN

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white sheer velvet with a yoke of cut yellow velvet and veil and carried a white bible.

Mrs. Arnold Ellsworth attended her sister as matron of honor. She was attired in a gown of whine sheer velvet with nylon yoke and carried a matching muff with glamelias.

Miss Margaret McKevit, junior bridesmaid, wore a maroon velvet gown with a matching muff and glamelia streamers.

Mr. Russell was attended by Max Dillon. Ushers were William Eceleston and Oliver McKevit, uncles of the bride, Arnold Ellsworth, Elbert Dempsey and June Short.

RECEPTION HELD

A reception was held at Bartholomew hall after the ceremony. Following the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Russell left on a wedding trip, on which they visited the bridegroom's family in Washburn.

Open house for the couple was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents here recently with more than 200 relatives and friends present.

Hostesses were Mrs. Vincent Ballard, Miss Helen Knox, Mrs. Donald Rideout, and Mrs. Stuart Duncan. Miss Laurie Thompson had charge of the guest book.

Out-of-town guests included Mrs. George Cook of Orono: Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan Parsons, Mrs. Walter Lyon and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Barker of Presque Isle; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Burgess and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Robinson of Caribou; Mr. and Mrs. Anson Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. William Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. James Cummings and Mrs. Celia Milbury of Easton, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Libby of State Road.

The couple will reside in Orono where Mr. Russell is completing his senior year at the University of Maine.
