PHILBROOK - HAINES

Miss Bertha Mae Haines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haines, and Leslie P. Philbrook, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Philbrook, were united in marriage, in an attractive double ring ceremony, Saturday evening, May 22 [1948], at the home of the bride's parents. The Rev. Reed Blackstone of Perham performed the ceremony under an arch of evergreen.

The bride was lovely in a gown of white sheer en train adorned with seed pearls, and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers. She was given in marriage by her father. Her sister, Beatrice, acted as bridesmaid, and wore pink silk with an arm bouquet of jonquils. Medrick Philbrook, brother of the groom was best man.

The bride's mother wore a print dress of light blue silk. The bridegroom's mother also was dressed in blue silk with matching accessories.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held. Miss Glenna Haines had charge of the gift table. Refreshments were served by Miss Mae Haines, Mrs. William Haines, Mrs. Norris Umphrey, Miss Mona Conley, and Miss Edna Mae Jordan.

Mrs. Philbrook is a graduate of Washburn High and attended business college in Bangor.

Mr. Philbrook served in the U. S. Army during World War II. They will reside in Carson.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barr, Lottie Barr, Mrs. Fred Barr, Ralph and Margaret Barr, all of Fredericton, N. B.; Mr. and Mrs. J. Moore and children. Gerald Brown, Roger Akeley, Alma Kinney, Margaret Theriault, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Brown, Merle Nichols of Presque Isle; and Ralph Currier of Portland.
