Mrs. Russell was selected by the student body from a field of five contestants, all wives of students, in a contest sponsored by the Pine Needle, the University's humor magazine. She was the winner of more than $125. worth of prizes donated by Orono merchants.
Mrs. Russell is a brunette, five feet seven inches tall, and weighs 125 pounds; a tennis enthusiast, and a devotee of swimming and fishing. She is impartially in favor of both Southern and New England styles of cooking.
Russell, a former Seabee, is a Business Administration major and a senior at the University of Maine. He is a member of Phi Eta Kappa fraternity. His home is in Washburn, Maine. The Russells met at Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, where they both were students before Maurice transferred to the University of Maine. They were married December 27, 1947 at Independence, Mo.
