AROOSTOOK BRIDE -- Miss Betty Harvey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Harvey of Patten and Bernard White, son of Mr. and Mrs. William White of Washburn, were married recently at an attractive wedding at Shin Pond. The couple will reside in Washburn.

Miss Betty Harvey Of Patten Is Bride Of Washburn Man

PATTEN, Aug. 30 [1948] -- A charming home wedding took place recently at Shin Pond when Miss Betty Harvey, older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Harvey of Patten became the bride of Bernard White, son of Mr. and Mrs. William White of Washburn.

One of the spacious cabins connected with the Shin Pond House was the scene of the ceremony and was most attractively decorated for the occasion. Evergreen and sweet peas in rainbow colors were used as a background, while the fireplace was banked with evergreens and bouquets of gladiolus.

Rev. Victor Vincent, pastor of the Methodist church at Easton, a former pastor at Patten, was the officiating clergyman and read the double ring service.

The bride's costume was a street length dress, made with bustle effect, and with it she wore wine accessories. She complemented the ensemble with a corsage of white gladiolus.

Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Patricia Harvey. She chose a street length gown of blue crepe, trimmed with silver sequins, her accessories were white and her corsage was of sweet peas in rainbow colors.

The bride's mother, Mrs. Harvey, wore a costume of light gray crepe with white accessories, and her corsage was also of sweet peas in the rainbow colors.

Ensley Wheaton, Jr., of Patten acted as best man.

The ceremony was immediately followed by an informal reception which was attended by intimate friends and relatives of the bride and bridegroom. Refreshments were served, including a wedding cake which was cut by the bride and bridegroom.

Following the reception Mr. and Mrs. White left on a short wedding trip to an undisclosed destination. Mrs. White chose for her traveling costume a summer wool suit in grayish-blue, with wine accessories, and her corsage was of gladiolus.

Mrs. White is a graduate of Patten academy, and was a student at Eastern Maine General hospital Training School in Bangor.
