STEWARDESS TO WED -- Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Umphrey of Washburn have announced the engagement of their daughter, Virginia M. Umphrey, to John P. McEvoy, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. George McEvoy of Newton, Mass.

Miss Umphrey is employed as a stewardess on the Northeast Airlines. Mr. McEvoy is employed by the William Whitman Company, Incorporated, of Boston, Mass.

A late fall wedding is planned.
