ENGAGED -- Mr. and Mrs. Laurel W. Thompson of Washburn are announcing the engagement of their eldest daughter, Laurine Joyce, to Thomas R. York, Jr., of Mars Hill. Miss Thompson graduated from Washburn High school, and Colby College, class of '48 where she was president of Chi Omega Sorority. At present she is a member of the faculty at Washburn High school. Mr. York, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. York of Mars Hill, graduated from Central Aroostook Institute, Hebron Academy, and now is taking a course in accounting at Aroostook School of Commerce. The announcement was made at a recent dinner party at the Thompson home attended by the young couples families. A summer wedding is planned.
