Janice Deeves Washburn Bride

WASHBURN, June 3 [1949] -- A wedding of interest took place recently when Miss Janice Deeves; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Deeves, became the bride of George Alfred Maim, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Malm, Sr., of Woodland, at the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Claudia Stoddard.

Rev. Arthur Post of Houlton read the double-ring ceremony.

They were attended by Miss Earlene Deeves, sister of the bride and Leland Sealander of Perham.

The bride was attired in a suit of soldier blue. Her attendant, Miss Deeves, wore a gray suit. Both wore corsages of red roses.

Mrs. Deeves, mother of the bride, wore a royal blue dress, sequin trimmed.

Mrs. Malm, mother of the bridegroom, wore navy blue. Both wore corsages of red roses.

A reception was held in the evening at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Malm at Woodland. There were about 400 guests present.

Mrs. Arthur Post of Houlton, soloist, sang "I Love You Truly" and entertained with piano accordion selections.

A beautiful wedding cake, made by Mrs. John Fuller, was served by Mrs. Claudia Stoddard after the first slice was cut by the bridal couple. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Alfred Malm, Mrs. Merle Deeves, Mrs. Fred Humphrey and Mrs. Ellen Estedt.

Presiding at the gift table were Mrs. Maurice Parker and Miss Wilma Braddock, Miss Pearl Parker was in charge of the guest book.

Mr. and Mrs. Malm will reside at 23 Collins street, Caribou, where Mr. Malm is employed.
