Baskets of summer flowers and two tall candelabra decorated the altar. White satin ribbon marked off the pews. George Suprenant, Jr., organist, played incidental music and the traditional wedding march. Miss Gloria Plissey, friend of the bride, sang "Because" and "I Love Thee."
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was charming in a gown of white marquisette
with inserts of Chantilly lace at the sleeves and waist. The dress buttoned from a rounded collar with matching lace trim to the waist. Her ankle length veil of nylon netting and trimmed with chantilly lace hung from a matching lace cap which tied under the chin with nylon netting. She carried a spring bouquet of white lilies.
Miss Pauline Smith, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and was attired in an aqua gown with chantilly lace top with full taffeta skirt. She wore a matching picture hat. The aqua gowns of the bridesmaids were fashioned like that of the maid of honor as were the matching picture hats. All three carried arm bouquets of white and yellow snapdragons. The bridesmaid, Miss Lois Learnard
and Miss Dorothy Sewall, were the friends of the bride. Miss Bonnie Plissey was flower girl. She wore a long white gown and carried a basket of summer flowers.
Ray M. Day, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Thomas Griffin and Bernard Pooler, friends of the bridegroom.
The bride's mother was attired in a dress of pink print with white accessories. She complemented her costume with a corsage of white carnations. The mother of the bridegroom wore a lavender print dress with white accessories. Her corsage was of white sweet peas.
RECEPTION AT CHURCH
Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the church dining room. The guest
book was in charge of Miss Lorettra Thompson. Miss Dathelene Paterson and Miss Gwendolyn Stoddard had charge of the gift table. Presiding at the punch bowl were Miss Mary Russell and Miss Anita Dahlgren. After the traditional first slice was cut by the bridal couple, the wedding cake was served by Miss Pauline Berce and Miss Nada Brewer. Refreshments were served buffet style.
The bride chose for traveling a light beige sharkskin dress with green accessories, complementing
her ensemble with a corsage of white carnation. The couple left for a wedding trip to Boston, the White Mountains and Old Orchard Beach.
They will reside in Old Town after Sept. 20. Mr. Day will continue his studies at the U. of M.
The bride is a graduate of Washburn high school in the class of 1949. The bridegroom, also a graduate of Washburn high school, served two years with the Seebees
He is now a senior at the University of Maine and a member of the Phi Kappa, fraternity.
