Miss Nada Brewer Weds In Washburn

WASHBURN, Jan. 11 [1950] -- Miss Nada Joyce Brewer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brewer of Washburn, recently became the bride of Bernard H. Pooler, son of Mrs. Joseph Pooler and the late Mr. Pooler, also of Washburn.

The ceremony took place by candlelight at the Crouseville Advent Christian church, the Rev. Martin Rasmussen, assisted by the Rev. Arthur Northup, performing the double-ring ceremony.

Mrs. Ruby Richardson, church organist, played incidental music and the traditional wedding march, "O Promise Me" and "Because" were sung by Mrs. Martin Rasmusen of Woodland.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a gown of satin en train with a nylon inserted neckline, tight-fitted bodice, and full lace paneled skirt. She carried a bridal bouquet of white gladioli with white satin steamers.

Mrs. Arthur Bezanson of Washington, D. C., friend of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a gown of yellow taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet of lavender gladioli with matching tiara.

Train bearer was Peggy Jo Brewer, sister of the bride, and her dress was of white satin with ruffle neckline.

Isaac Brewer, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were Arthur Bezanson of Washington,

D. C., and Ray Day, Jr., of Washburn.

The bride's mother wore a dress of navy complemented with a corsage of red roses. The bridegroom's mother wore black with a corsage of red roses.

A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Crouseville Mission hall. Mrs. Keith Day of Orono was in charge of the guest book. The Misses Ruth Pooler and Anita Dahlgren presided at the gift table. After the traditional first slice was cut by the bride and bridegroom, the wedding cake was served by Miss Marie Brewer, sister of the bride, assisted by Mrs. Harold Wilder. Refreshments were served by Miss Lois Learned, Mrs. Francis Haskell, Mrs. Avard Crouse and Mrs. Bearl Flewelling.

For traveling, the bride wore a green suit and grey coat with matching accessories. She complemented her ensemble with a corsage of red roses. After a trip to an unannounced destination, the couple are residing on Hines street.

The bride, a graduate of Washburn high school, attended Husson college, Bangor, and at present is employed at the Aroostook Farm Supplies, Inc., of Washburn.

The bridegroom, also a graduate of Washburn high school, is a veteran of World War Two, having served two years in the South Pacific. He attended Worcester Junior college, Worcester, Mass., Ricker Junior college, Houlton, and at present is a senior at the University of Maine, majoring in agronomy.
