L. Joan DeBow Wed At Caribou Church

CARIBOU, June 28 [1950] -- The Pentecostal church was the scene of a pretty wedding recently, when Miss L. Joan DeBow; daughter of Dora DeBow became the bride of Frank D. Nichols, the son of Mrs. Lerona Nichols, at a ceremony performed by the Rev. Lloyd Spark, brother-in-law of Miss DeBow.

The church was decorated in yellow and green with white rosettes of satin ribbon marking the honor guest pews. The wedding vows were given under a floral arch where the same color scheme predominated.

The bride was charming in a white crepe-back satin gown with sweeping train. Her floor-length veil was attached to a wreath of orange blossoms and her bouquet was of white carnations and lily of the valley. Mrs. Hubert Thompson, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and Miss Mary Nichols, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, while little Lorraine Sparks was flower girl.

The matron of honor wore a pink net over pink taffeta gown and her shoulder-length veil was topped with lilies of the valley. Her colonial bouquet was of pink carnations. The bridesmaid wore a rose taffeta gown with matching shoulder-length veil and her colonial bouquet was of pink carnations. The flower girl was gowned in yellow satin with matching head-dress and she carried a basket of flowers.

Merlin Holmes was best man and Everett Belmain, bridegroom's man; The ushers were Elbert Fowler and Ezra Miller, Jr.

The bride's mother wore navy blue with navy blue accessories, and her corsage, was of red roses.

Mother of the bridegroom wore grey crepe with white accessories and her corsage was of red roses.

Herbert Thompson played the traditional Wedding march and was the accompanist for the vocal

selection sung by Mrs. Lloyd Sparks, sister of the bride, and the duet sung by Rev. and Mrs. Sparks.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the dining room of the church where refreshments were served to 250 guests. The bridal table was centered with a four-tiered wedding cake lighted white tapers and individual places with small mirrored tapers.

Mrs. Winnie Sparks was in charge of refreshments and was assisted in serving by Miss Juanity Hathaway; Miss Aresta Haines, Mrs. Belmain, Mrs. Kelley and Mrs. Mertie Hathaway. Also assisting were Minnie Sparks, Joseph Doak and Joseph Ball.

Mrs. Elbert Fowler was in charge of the guest book while Miss Phyllis Clark and Mrs. Russell Fowler presided over the gift tables.

Following a wedding trip to Madawaska lake and New-Brunswick, the couple will reside on Hillcrest avenue.

For traveling, the bride wore a grey gabardine suit with navy and white accessories, complementing her ensemble with a corsage of white carnations.

The bride was formerly employed at M. N. Landeau's store, The bridegroom attended Caribou high school and is now employed as drug clerk at the Doctor's Pharmacy in Caribou.
