Joyce Thompson Washburn Bride

WASHBURN, July 13 [1950] -- Miss Joyce Marie Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thompson, became the bride of Harold E. Corey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Corey, in a simple afternoon wedding held recently at the Baptist Parsonage. The Rev. Philip C. Hughey, Jr., officiated in a double ring service.

Mrs. Ellsworth Woodman was matron of honor and Ellsworth Woodman was best man.

The bride wore a sheer blue dress with white accessories and her corsage was of red roses. Mrs. Woodman wore a blue taffeta dress and white accessories and she wore a corsage of red roses.

The wedding party had dinner at Green Acres and in the evening a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thompson. Approximately 350 guests were present.

Included in the receiving line with the bridal couple were Mrs. Thompson, mother of the bride, who was attired in a summer print with green background and she wore a corsage of yellow roses and Mrs. Corey, the bridegroom's mother, who wore a black summer figured sheer dress and had a corsage of white roses.

Miss Warrena Bugbee had charge of the guest book. Miss Jacqueline Thompson and Miss Janet Walker were at the gift table. After the wedding cake was cut by the bridal couple, it was served by Mrs. Norman Currier, great-aunt of the bride. Assisting in serving were Miss Virginia Thompson, Mrs. Elaine Corey, Miss Marilyn Stairs, Miss Marion Corey, Miss Marilyn Brown, Miss Lynette Kidney.

Mr. and Mrs. Corey are both graduates of Washburn High school and he is engaged in farming with his father.

Upon returning from a wedding trip to Rhode Island and the White Mountains, the couple will reside on Canaan Avenue in town.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Durepo, Mrs. Robert McQuire, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Currier all of Caribou, From Presque Isle were Mrs. Iva Langin, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Mosher, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Umphrey and Mrs. Richard Evans and Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Thompson of Blaine.
