MRS. JOHN PALMER

Betty Churchill Washburn Bride Of John Palmer

WASHBURN, Nov. 2 [1951] -- An attractive fall wedding took place recently at the Washburn Pentecostal church when Miss Betty Marie Churchill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Churchill, became the bride of John Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Palmer, of Exeter. Rev. Renhard Sands, pastor, performed the double-ring ceremony.

Evergreen and white poms were used in decorating an arch over which hung a large wedding bell. Incidental music and the wedding march were played by the church pianist, Mrs. Margaret Harris. Mrs. Edward Skane sang "Because" and Mrs. Grace Chase of Presque Isle sang "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us". "The Lord's Prayer" was sung by Mrs. Chase and Mrs. Skane.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with lace inserted neckline with tiny buttons from the neckline to the waist and long tapering sleeves. Her lace fingertip veil was attached to a tiara of matching lace. She carried a white Bible with a corsage of white poms tied with satin streamers.

Mrs. Beryl Clark of Mars Hill, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and she wore a gown of yellow sheer with full skirt. She also wore a headband of orchid flowers, from which was attached a veil. She carried an orchid bouquet.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Evelyn Lawrence of Exeter, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Evelyn Churchill, sister of the bride. Mrs. Lawrence wore an aqua gown and Miss Churchill wore an orchid gown, fashioned similar. Both wore a headband of mixed flowers with an attached veil. They carried colonial bouquets of mixed flowers.

FLOWER GIRLS

Flower girls were Cynthia Sands, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Renhard Sands, who wore a green dress and Linda Churchill, sister of the bride who wore an orchid dress.

Train bearers were Amelia Doak and ring bearer was Robert Doak. They were dressed in white.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the dining room of the church. Presiding at the gift table was Miss Martha Wilcox and Miss Loretta Dougherty of Newport. The cake and refreshments were served by Miss Alice Harris, Miss Dawn Barnes and Miss Dora Ryder.

For traveling, the bride chose a brown suit with brown accessories and corsage of yellow poms.

The couple will reside in Exeter, where they will be engaged in gospel work.
