Miss Mona E. Smith Of Washburn Weds In Massachusetts

WASHBURN, April 13 [1952] -- Miss Mona E. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben D. Smith of Washburn, recently became the bride of Lawrence P. Storm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton L. Storm of Westmanland, at a ceremony performed at the Bethel Lutheran Church of Auburn, Mass., by the pastor of the church, Rev. J. R. Norlander.

The couple was attended by the bride's sister. Mrs. Emmons Goodings of Worcester, and the bridegroom`s cousin, Frederick Peterson of Auburn.

Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Holmquist and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Peterson of New Sweden were also present.

A reception was held for the young couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Peterson in Auburn.

Mrs. Storm was graduated from Washburn High School in 1951, and is a sales clerk in Worcester.

The bridegroom attended Caribou High School and enlisted in the Navy in February, 1951. At present he is attending a torpedo school at Newport, R. I., before reporting for duty on board the aircraft carrier. "The Cabot" stationed at Pensacola, Florida.

The young couple will spend a short leave with relatives in northern Aroostook.

Reception Held For Newlyweds At Washburn Church

WASHBURN, May 20 -- The Methodist church of Washburn was the scene of a wedding reception in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence P. Storm, who were recently married at Auburn, Mass. Mrs. Carol Burke was in charge of a short program which preceded the reception. Several selections were played by Mrs. Burke, church organist, followed by a solo "Because" by Mrs. Mavis Brown; a solo, "Always" by Harry Duncan and a duet, "I Would Be Like Jesus" by the Rev. and Mrs. Roy E. Olson of New Sweden. Mrs. Olson sang "Oh, Perfect Love."

Following the program, an informal receiving line was formed in the church dining room. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Storm were assisted in receiving by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith and the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Storm of Westmanland. Mrs. Storm was attired in a pink and grey check suit with navy and white accessories and wore a corsage of white gladioli. Mrs. Smith, mother of the bride, wore a navy and white dress with navy and red accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Anton Storm, mother of the bridegroom wore an aqua dress with black and white accessories and a corsage of pink roses.

The dining room was decorated in yellow and white. The refreshment table was centered with a hand painted bowl of yellow jonquils and blue iris placed on a mirror and yellow tapers in silver candle holders were used.

The bride's cake was made by the bride's sister, Mrs. Edrick Flewelling and the bride's aunt, Mrs. Sheldon Hallett, of Caribou which they served after the traditional first slice was cut by the bride and bride-groom. Mrs. Hadley Flanagin presided at the punch bowl. Serving at the refreshment table were Mrs. Vesta Thompson, Mrs. Flora Cary, Mrs. Hattie Maskell and Mrs. Ida Manzer. The guest book was circulated by Mrs. Howard Hodgdon, a classmate of the bride, and Mrs. Robert Helstrom and Miss Beryl Hallett, cousins of the bride, were in charge of the gift table.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn high school, class of 1951 and has been employed at Worcester, Mass. Mr. Storm attended Caribou high school and is serving aboard the U. S. S. Cabot at Pensacola, Fla.
