Washburn Girl Weds Mass., Man

WASHBURN, Aug. 3 [1952] -- Miss Barbara Ann Blackstone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milford H. Blackstone, became the bride of Norton Eugene Demsey, Jr., of Stoneham, Mass., son of Mr. and Mrs. Norton E. Demsey of Danvers, Mass., in a home garden ceremony recently.

The Rev. Read Blackstone officiated. Mrs. Ralph Bearce of Caribou was soloist and Mrs. R. P. Burke was organist.

The bride wore a gown of white lace, ballerina-length, with fitted bodice and a wide skirt. Her gown was fashioned with a wide neckline with short sleeves. She wore a lace cap and a small halo of flowers. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli, baby's breath and pale pink shattered carnations.

Mrs. Abiah Fenlason of Agawam, Mass. was matron of honor and wore a gown of lavender chiffon and lace and carried pale yellow shattered carnations. Abiah Fenlason was best man.

A reception followed at the home with Mrs. Stuart Noyes of Limestone in charge of the guest book and Mrs. Edmund Rollins of Washburn in charge of the gifts. Serving was Mrs. J. C. McCall, Mrs. Harry Roach, Miss Pauline Bearce, Miss Edith Dahlgren, Mrs. R. P. Burke and Mrs. Ralph Bearce.

The couple left on a trip along the Maine coast, the bride traveling in a white suit with navy accessories. They will make their home in Stoneham, Mass.

The bride is dean of girls at Winchester high school. She graduated from Washburn high school and Farmington State Teachers College where she received her B.S. Degree. She received her Mas-B.S., degree in education from Harvard University.

The bridegroom graduated from Danvers high school and the Salem Teachers College, Salem, Mass., with a B.S. Degree. He received his Master's Degree in Education from Harvary university. He is director of guidance at Winchester high school.
