Presque Isle Man Weds In Bay State

SOMERVILLE, Mass. Sept. 12 [1954] -- At a four o'clock candlelight ceremony in the Advent Christian Church of Somerville, Mass., August 28, Miss Nancy Ann Nickerson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Clinton Nickerson of Winthrop, Mass., became the bride of Dr. Donald Read Blackstone of Presque Isle, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Read Blackstone of Perham.

The bridegroom's father officiated, assisted by the bride's pastor, the Rev. Chester W. Parmley, and a reception followed in the church vestry.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of lace and net. Her finger-tip tulle veil was held by a headdress of nylon lace trimmed with pearls and iridescent sequins, and she carried a bouquet of Eucharis lilies, steaphanotis and ivy.

For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Nickerson wore a dress of gray silk organza with white accessories and her corsage was of rubrum lilies.

Mrs. Blackstone, the bridegroom's mother, wore a dress of rose silk crepe and lace with white accessories and her corsage was cymbidium orchids.

Mrs. Marvin Casey of Fall River, Mass., was matron of honor. With her gown of yellow lace and net she carried a bouquet of various flowers of different colors with headband of ivy and flowers to match.

The bridesmaids were Miss Wilma Blackstone of Perham, sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. Ruth Sample of Somerville, Mass. They wore identical gowns of pink and their flowers were similar.

Little Ruth Ann MacFarland of Arlington, Mass., was the flower girl. Her dress was identical to the others in yellow.

Cpl. Lloyd Blackstone of Perham was his brother's best man. Ushers included William Nickerson, Jr., of Winthrop, Mass., brother of the bride, Clayton Blackstone of Perham, brother of the bridegroom, the Rev. James Workman of East Bridgewater, Mass., and the Rev. Gerald Heaney of Narragansett, R. I.

For her going away costume, the bride wore a suit of beige with hat and gloves of flamingo velvet, brown accessories and a corsage of daisies.

The bride is a graduate of the Winthrop schools. The bridegroom was graduated from Tufts College Dental School. After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Ontario, the couple will live in Presque Isle.
