Washburn Girl Becomes Bride

WASHBURN, Feb. 18 [1955] -- Miss Glenice J. Nickerson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nickerson became the bride of Floyd Huston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perley Huston of Caribou in a candlelight wedding ceremony which took place Saturday evening at the Pentecostal church. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Ethel Sinclair.

Baskets of white gladioli and candelabra were used for decoration.

Mrs. Margaret Harris was the orfanist. "Because" was sung by Merle Deeves and "I Love You Truly" was sung by Miss Shirley Broad and Miss Donna McEntee of Presque Isle, Merle Deeves and Miss Alice Harris sang "Together" after the wedding ceremony.

The bride wore a chapel length gown of nylon net over satin with fitted bodice. The yoke with pointed collar and sleeves which tapered to a point were fashioned of lace. Her veil was fingertip length. Her only ornament was a string of pearls which was a gift from the bridegroom. She carried a colonial bouquet of red and white carnations with matching streamers.

Miss Lois Pooler, cousin of the bride, was maid of honnr. She wore a ballerina length gown of pale green nylon net over taffeta with matching stole. Her headband was made of white rosebuds. She carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations.

Miss Willa and Carolyn Nickerson, cousins of the bride, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were fashioned alike and were of lavender and blue nylon net over taffeta with matching stoles. They wore headbands of white rosebuds and carried colonial bouquets of carnations.

Prudence Nickerson, cousin of the bride was flower girl and her dress was ballerina length of rose nylon net over taffeta with headband of white rosebuds. She carried a basket of flower petals.

Alton Ketch of Caribou was best man. Gerald McGann of Caribou and Gerald Wright of Crouseville, were ushers.

Mrs. Nickerson, mother of the bride, wore a black faille dress trimmed with black and white taffeta and black accessories. Her corsage was red rosebuds.

Mrs. Huston, mother of the bridegroom, wore a purple dress with brown accessories and she wore a corsage of yellow rosebuds.

Approximately 250 friends and relatives attended the reception which was held at the church dining room. The guest book was in charge of Miss Lorraine Deschaine of Presque Isle. At the gift table were Miss Esther Howe and Miss Elva Lenantine of Presque Isle. Mrs. Orman Pooler, aunt of the bride, presided at the punch bowl.

After the traditional first, slice was cut, the bride's cake, which was made by Mrs. William McDougal, was served by Miss Jeannette Gregg. Serving the ice cream were Kenneth Harris, Dale Umphrey and Marvin Dickinson.

Assisting in serving were Mrs. Kenneth Harris, Mrs. Marvin Dickinson, Mrs. Lois Burden, Mrs. Millie Pettingill, Miss Christina Nickerson, Miss Alice Harris, and the Misses Regina, Betty and Irma Sutherland of Caribou.

For traveling Mrs. Huston wore a light blue flannel dress princess style with navy and gray accessories. She wore a corsage of red rosebuds.

After a wedding trip to Massachusetts and the White Mts. The couple will reside on 10 Lincoln Street, Caribou.
