Charlene Plissey, Rodney E. Drake Wed In Washburn

WASHBURN, Nov. 8 [1955] -- Miss Charlene Plissey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Plissey of Washburn became the bride of Rodney E. Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Evard Drake also of Washburn, at the First Baptist church Sunday afternoon.

The Rev. J. Weslev Stuart, pastor, officiated at the double-ring ceremony assisted by the Rev. Earl Waterman, pastor of the Advent Christian church of Crouseville. The altar was decorated with candelabra and the seasonal chrysanthemums and pom pons.

Mrs. William Foster, organist, played wedding music and accompanied Miss Patricia Plissey, cousin of the bride who sang "I'll Walk On" and ''I Love You Truly."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over satin. The dress was fashioned with a Peter Pan collar, long pointed sleeves and a ruffled skirt of ballerina length. Her shoulder length veil of nylon net was attached to a net and sequin trimmed crown. She carried a white satin covered Bible topped with a white orchid and streamers.

Miss Geraldine Rideout, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length gown of yellow nylon net over taffeta with matching stole, headband, and slippers. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow Pom pons.

Miss Nancy Plissev, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore an orchid gown of nylon net over taffeta with matching stole, headband, and slippers. She carried a colonial bouquet of orchid Pom pons.

Miss Janice Drake, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a white gown fashioned similar to that of the bridesmaid and maid of honor.

The best man was Melvin Drake, brother of the bridegroom.

Carroll Plissey, brother of the bride, Frederick Plissey, cousin of the bride, and Frederick Thompkins, friend of the bridegroom, were ushers

Larry Berglind, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.

The bride's mother wore a navy taffeta dress with matching hat and shoes and a corsage of red carnations.

The bridegroom's mother wore a bluish-gray taffeta dress with navy accessories and a corsage of red carnations.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held in the church dining room. After the first slice was cut by the bride and bridegroom, the wedding cake was cut and served by Miss Charlotte Wright, aunt of the bride, assisted by Mrs. Oden Foote, sister of the bridegroom.

Assisting in serving were Mrs. Everett Barker, sister of the bride, Mrs. Carroll Plissey, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Clifton Chaimberlain, classmate of the bride. At the punch bowl were Mrs. Vernal Curtis and Mrs. Albert Berglind, sisters of the bridegroom.

The gift table was in charge of Miss Jean Holts, classmate of the bride and Miss Betty McDougall, friend of the bride.

Miss Helen Drake, sister of the bridegroom, circulated the guest book.

For a wedding trip to an unannounced destination the bride wore a teal blue dress with black accessories and a white orchid corsage.

Mrs. Drake was graduated from Washburn High School class of 1955.

Drake also was graduated from Washburn High School. He is engaged in farming.
