
The chancel was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and white tapers in candelabra. Miss Wilma Blackstone of Perham was organist playing the wedding music. She accompanied Miss Dorothy Huston, cousin of the bridegroom, who sang, "Calm as the Night" and "The Wedding Prayer."
Mrs. Robert Brown, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Virginia Haskell, Miss June Brooker and Miss Bonnie Wood. Darrell McKay, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushering were Robert Brown and Paul Brown, brothers of the bride, and Douglas McDougal.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor-length gown of white nylon lace over satin. The lace bodice was made with illusion yoke and mandarin collar. The sleeves of matching lace terminated in points at the wrist. The bouffant skirt was fashioned with center front and back panels of lace with side tiers of nylon net ruffles. Her illusion veil, in chapel length, fell from a cap of lace trimmed with pearls. She carried a white Bible with a white orchid and white streamers.
The matron of honor was attired in a lilac gown of net over taffeta and a matching half hat. She carried a fan bouquet of assorted daisies. The bridesmaids' dresses were styled to match the gown of the matron of honor. Miss Haskell wore yellow, Miss Brooker and Miss Wood each wore Nile green with matching half hats and carried fan bouquets of assorted daisies.
The bride's mother wore a blue lace dress over satin with white accessories. She complemented her gown with a corsage of red roses.
The bridegroom's aunt, representing his mother who was ill, wore a lavender silk dress with white accessories and a corsage of yellow.
Colleen Sperry of Perham and Colleen Meister of Washburn were flower girls. They wore floor length gowns of pale yellow organdy, with white sash and headbands of net and daisies. They carried baskets of tiny assorted daisies. The ring bearer was Barry Littlefield of Bangor, cousin of the bride.
Bouquets of seasonal flowers decorated the church vestry where a reception was held after the ceremony. The church was decorated by Mrs. Ruth Barnes and Mrs. James Peters.
Mrs. Robert Ringdahl of Caribou circulated the guest book. Mrs. Carroll Plissey and Mrs. Ruth Barnes presided at the gift tables. Miss Catherine Duncan served punch. Mrs. Bernice Umphrey was in charge of refreshments assisted by Mrs. Myrtle Smith, Mrs. Quentin Jardine and Mrs. Lesley Brewer. Serving were Mrs. James Peters amd Miss Judy Johnson.
The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Quentin Jardine, was served by Mrs. Cora Pangburn, cousin of the bride, after the first slice had been cut by the bridal couple. Assisting in serving wedding cake were Joyce Pangburn and Diane Haskell.
Mr. and Mrs. McKay left on a wedding trip to an unannounced destination. After July 15 they will reside in Washburn.
The bride's traveling ensemble was a pink silk dress with matching duster. Her accessories were white and she wore a white orchid corsage.
The bride was graduated from Washburn High School and Husson College. She is employed as secretary at Taterstate Frozen Foods.
The bridegroom was graduated from Caribou High School and is employed at Birds Eye Division of General Foods in Caribou.
Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. John T. Brown, Sandra, Peggy and Paul of Springfield, Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. John Bondeson of Portland; Mrs. Ida Bradbury, Brewer; Mrs. Irene Littlefield and Barry, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Cotnoir, and Dorothy Huston, all of Bangor.
