MRS. FRANKLIN MILLER, JR.(Lois Russell)
The Rev. Reuben Martin, Jr., pastor of the Conservative Baptist Church of Washburn, officiated in the double-ring ceremony.
Mrs. J. Lester Brewer played the wedding music and accompanied James Ross of Houlton, soloist, who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor-length gown of dupioni silk.
The bodice of imported Chantilly lace was fashioned with a scalloped edge bateau neckline and long pointed sleeves. The fully hooped silk skirt with inserts of Chantilly lace ended in a chapel train. Her double shoulder length veil was attached to a crown of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of baby's breath centered with a white orchid.
Miss Carolyn Russell was her sister's maid of honor. Her gown was a waltz-length rose nylon chiffon with a sabrina neckline.
The waist and insert down the back were of contrasting pink wiyh matching shoes and head-band. She carried a bouquet of pink daisies and babies' breath.
The bridesmaids were the Misses Phyllis and Virginia Russell, sister of the bride. Miss Carolyn Bull of Presque Isle and Miss Jane Elizabeth Payson of Madison, Conn.
They wore matching waltz-length pink nylon chiffon gowns. The waist and insert down the back of the gowns were of contrasting rose with shoes and headband to match. They carried baskets of yellow daisies and baby's breath.
The bride's mother chose a powder blue nylon lace and crepe dress with white accessories, her corsage was red roses and shattered white carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a rose lace over taffeta dress with matching accessories. Her corsage was of white roses.
George Hubbard, Jr., of Milton, Mass. was best man. Ushers were Murray Cappers, John Freeman, Jr., Howard Miller, Jr., Lawrence Norris, Richard Sexton, and Ronald Stevens, Jr., all form Milton.
Flower girl was Miss Rita Stoddard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orrick Stoddard of Sterling, Mass. She wore a floor-length gown of white nylon over white taffeta with a pink sash. She carried a basket of rose petals. The ring bearer was Robert Drake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Drake of Washburn. Both are cousins of the bride.
Seasonal flowers and wedding bells decorated the church dining room for the reception which immediately followed the ceremony. Miss Catherine Duncan circulated the guest book, Miss Marilyn Lewin and Mrs. Carroll Plissey were gift hostesses. Mrs. James Plissey and Mrs. Orrick Stoddard, aunt of the bride, served punch Mrs. Myrtle Smith was in charge of the refreshments assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Peary and Mrs. George Young. Serving were Mrs. George Doody, Mrs. Verle Plissey and Miss Merleen Russell, cousins of the bride. The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Quentin Jardine.
The cake was served by Mrs. Allen Drake, aunt of the bride and Miss Leatrice Stoddard, cousin of the bride, after the first slice was cut by the bridal couple.
The day was also the 25th wedding anniversary of the bride's parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller left on a wedding trip to an unannounced destination. After July 8 they will reside at 46 Wendell Park, Milton, Mass. The bride's traveling ensemble was a navy blue silk sheath dress with matching duster lined with white taffeta. Her accessories were white and she wore a white orchid corsage.
The bride was graduated from Washburn High school and Fisher Junior College in Boston where she had been secretary to the administrative dean for the past two years.
The bridegroom was graduated from Milton High school and attended Boston University.
