Marion Bugbee Becomes Bride In Caribou Rites

WASHBURN, Aug. 26 [1956] -- Miss Marion Jane Bugbee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Leroy Bugbee of Washburn, became the bride of Richard Milton Batt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis T. Batt of Livingston, N. J., in a ceremony held at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church at Caribou.

The Rev. Joseph Trask, church rector performed the ceremony, was assisted by the Rev. Philip Keisrstead of Lonsdale, R. I. The altar was decorated with bouquets of bronze dalias.

Mr. Henry Bradbury was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Seddon, soloists, sang appropriate wedding music.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a floor length gown of white crystalette over taffeta. The gown fashioned by the bride, had a fitted long torso and full gathered skirt. The scooped neckline had a double tier of self bias edging that formed the cap sleeve.

The bride's chapel length veil was of bridal illusion and fell from a cap embroidered with seed pearls. She carried a white crystallette covered prayer book with a white orchid.

Mrs. William Forbes, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a ballet length gown of blue polished cotton fashioned as the bride and carried a crescent shaped bouquet of orchid and white pompon chrysanthemums.

Miss Marie Allen of Dorchester, Mass., was bridesmaid and Miss Judith Batt, sister of the bridegroom, of I,ivinghston, N, J., was junior bridesmaid. Their gowns and bouquets were the same style as the matron of honor. Miss Allen wore lilac polished cotton and Miss Batt wore pink polished cotton. Their headbands were knotted white nylon.

The flower girls were Miss Kathie Porter, cousin of the bride, and Miss Jennifer Batt of Bernardsville, N. J., niece of the bridegroom. They wore matching gowns of white dotted swiss nylon with lavender sashes.

Lewis T. Batt, Jr., of Bernardsville, N. J., was the best man.

Ushers were Lt. Robert E. Neff of Loring Air Force Base and David Batt, brother of the bridegroom of Livingston, N. J.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Parish Hall which was decorated with bouquets of lavender phlox and the tables covered with lavender clothes.

In charge of the guest book was Miss Florence Bugbee, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Basil Fox, cousin of the bride, and Miss Jill Fox were in charge of the gifts.

Passing the bride's cake was Miss Lucinda Jardine. The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Constance Crouse, was served by Mrs. Gerald Jardine and Mrs. Osborne Gregg.

Presiding at the punch bowl were Mrs. Glen Turner and Miss Pearl Russell. Also serving were

Mrs. Merle Russell, Miss Ardis Bugbee, Miss Caroline Bugbee and Miss Ruth Ada Gregg. The reception was in charge of the Washburn Extension Group with Mrs. Archie Maner as chairman, assisted by Mrs. Otis Russell, Mrs. Alan Drake and Mrs. Bert Turner.

For a wedding trip to an unannounced destination, the bride wore a sheath dress of green printed cotton and a brown linen coat. She wore beige accessories and a white orchid corsage.

After September 7 the couple will live at 85 Eastern Avenue, New Brunswick, N. J.

The bride was graduated from Washburn High School and the University of Maine and has been home economics instructor at Fort Fairfield High School. This coming year she will teach home Economics, at New Brunswick, N, J.

The bridegroom was graduated from Caldwell High school in Caldwell, N. J. He will enter Rutgers University at New Brunswick, N. J., this fall.
