Carolyn Peary, Washburn Girl, Becomes Bride

CROUSEVILLE, Aug. 28 [1956] -- The Advent Christian church of Crouseville has been the scene of the wedding of Miss Carolyn June Peary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peary of Washburn and Lief Victor Bull, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Bull of Presque Isle in a candlelight ceremony.

The Rev. Reuben Martin, pastor of the Conservative Baptist church in Washburn officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Candelabra and baskets of white and pink gladioli decorated the church, with white taper at the windows. Bridal wreath and white satin bows decorated the pews and white ribbons were used on the center aisles terminating at the rear of the church

Mrs. J. Lesley Brewer, organist of the Conservative Baptist church at Washburn, played the traditional wedding music and incidental music, and the Rev. Philip C. Hughey of Clinton, Mass., the bride's former pastor sang.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a waltz length wedding gown of Chantilly lace and net over satin fashioned with a fitted lace bodice, long pointed sleeves, and a lace collar.

Her finger tip veil of bridal illusion fell from a lace cap trimmed with seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a white Bible centered with pink roses and white streamers.

Mrs. Ira G. Day, Jr., of Crouseville, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Her gown was of embroidered orchid nylon net fashioned with a fitted bodice. V neck and a full skirt with a hoop. She carried a colonial bouquet of orchid sweet peas and streamers. Her head band was orchid net to match her gown.

Misses Sonja and Linda Bull, sisters of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were strapless with pink embroidered nylon over taffeta fashioned with a fitted bodice with a full skirt with hoops and matching net stoles and headpieces. Each carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white sweet peas and streamers.

Ira G Day, Jr., brother-in-law of the bride, was best man and ushers were Perlin Bull of Presque Isle, cousin of the bridegroom, and Fred Dearborn of Mars Hill, friend of the bridegroom.

The flower girl was Martha Bull. She wore a long gown of white dotted Swiss over a blue slip with matching blue sash.

Chester Hobbs of East Longmeadow, Mass., cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.

The bride's mother wore a navy blue silk dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The bridegroom's mother chose an irridescent blue silk dress with navy accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Edward Bull, grandmother of the bridegroom, wore a print gown and a corsage of pink roses.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Advent Christian Mission building which was decorated in pink and white. The bridal party stood in front of an evergreen background.

The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Quentin Jardine of Washburn and was served by Mrs. Frederick Tarr of Perham, aunt of the bride, she was assisted by Mrs. U. Van Kirk of Limestone, friend of the bride's family, after the traditional first slice was cut by the bridal couple.

Miss Aubrey Hobbs, aunt of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and Miss Noreen Peary, cousin of the bride and Miss Mavis Churchill, friend of the bride, presided at the gift table.

The bride chose for her wedding trip a light blue suit complemented by a rose corsage from her bridal bouquet.

The bride was graduated from Washburn High School in 1956.

Bull also graduated from Washburn High School in 1956.

They will be at home after August 31 at Fort Worth, Texas, where Mr. Bull is stationed with the Air Force.
