Patricia Mary Plissey Becomes Bride In Washburn Ceremony

WASHBURN, Sept. 9 [1956] -- Miss Patricia Mary Plissey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Plissey of Washburn and Roger Laing Duncan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle H. Duncan all of Presque Isle were married Thursday at 7 o'clock in the First Baptist Church of Washburn, The Rev. J Wesley Stuart, pastor, officiated.

The church was decorated with baskets of white gladioli and lighted candelabra.

Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. William Foster, who accompanied Mrs. Edwin, soloist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a satin bridal gown with a chapel length train. Her lace edged veil of nylon tulle fell from a crown of iridescent lace trimmed with pearls, and she carried a bouquet of white roses with satin streamers of blue and white.

The maid of honor was Miss Joanne Plissey, sister of the bride, who wore a waltz-length gown of light blue taffeta with a crown of matching material trimmed with pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of mixed flowers with blue and white streamers.

The bridesmaid, Mrs. Richard Duncan, sister-in-law of the bridegroom and the junior bridesmaid. Miss Diane Plissey, sister of the bride, wore gowns of the same material and design as the maid of honor. They carried colonial bouquets.

Miss Prudence Plissey and Miss Susan Plissey, sisters of the bride, were flower girls. They wore matching gowns of light blue taffeta and carried baskets of sweet pea blossoms in mixed colors.

Terrance Plissey, brother of the bride, was ring bearer.

The best man was Richard H. Duncan, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Frederick and Edwin Plissey, brothers of the bride.

The bride's mother wore a dress of navy blue acetate taffeta with a matching jacket. Her accessories were navy blue and white, and her corsage was of red roses.

The bridegroom's mother wore a dacron dress of navy blue, trimmed with white with lavender-pink and white accessories. She wore a corsage of white roses.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church dining room.

The guest book was in charge of Miss Carolyn Russell, cousin of the bride, and the gift table was presided over by Miss Nettie Castonguay and Miss June Huston. Miss Lois Learnard and Miss Merle Nickerson served the punch, assisted by Mrs. Carroll Taylor, Mrs. James Plissey, Mrs. Sherman Plissey, Mrs. Charles Plissey and Mrs. J. R. Lancaster.

After the traditional cutting of the first slice by the bride and bridegroom, the cake was served by Mrs. Carroll Plissey and Mrs. Verle Nickerson.

Besides the friends and relatives from Presque Isle and Washburn, the guests included: Mr. and Mrs. George Belyea and Miss Mary Belyea of Caribou; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tobey of Kittery; Mr. Ralph Gallager of Fort. Fairfield; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Snell, Ronnie and Judy of Westfield; Mr. and Mrs. Irving Chandler of Caribou.
