Elizabeth Tilley Weds In Rites At Washburn

WASHBURN, Sept. 7 [1956] -- Miss Elizabeth June Tilley, daughter of Mrs. Blanche Tilley and the 1ate Herbert Tilley of Washburn, became the bride of Thomas Frank Moorman, grandson of Mrs. F. S. Moorman of Roanoke, Va., Saturday evening at 7 o'clock in the First Baptist Church of Washburn.

The Rev. J. Wesley Stuart; Jr. performed the double ring ceremony.

Cande1abra and baskets of white gladioli decorated the altar. Mrs. William Foster played the organ and Miss Alice Harris sang "Together" and "I Love You Truly."

The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Frank Chandler of Cromwell, Conn., was radiant in a waltz length gown of Douppioni All-Silk-Antique in princess style. The empire waistline was bounded by a silk band which ended in the back with a single bow and long streamers.

The bodice was of Chantillv lace over net with a scalloped neckline trimmed with seed pearls and white sequins. The fingertip veil which fell from small head band with seed pearls and sequins on it completed the wedding outfit. Her bouquet was of white poms centered with a white orchid.

Miss Roberta Tilley, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Her gown was of a changable blue taffeta, fashioned with an Empire waistline of blue velvet which became a wide band down the back. The cap sleeves and circular neckline were trimmed with blue velvet Her bouquet was of

yellow poms.

Frumes Jobtz of Greenville, Mass., was best man. Morris Chandler of Woodmont, Conn., was the usher.

Mrs. Tillev chose for her daughter's wedding a dress of Wedgewood blue silk and black accessories. She had an orchid corsage. Mrs. Ada Chandler, grandmother of the bride, wore a grey suit with an orchid corsage.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church dining hall. The hall was decorated with baskets of gladioli, mixed carnations and a center-piece arranged by Mrs. Laurel Thompson. All the flowers were given to the bride by her uncle, Guy Caso of Connecticut.

Miss Nancy Smith of Mapleton was in charge of the guest book and Miss Paulyne Morin and Miss Betty Hone had charge of the gift table.

Serving were Mrs. Nathaniel Churchill, Mrs. Claude Cyr, Mrs. Merle Nickerson and Mrs. Burton Tilley. Also helping were Mrs. Carroll Wilder, Mrs. Carroll Taylor, and Mrs. J. Wesley Stuart.

The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Quentin Jardine, was served by Miss Carolyn Russell after the traditional first slice was cut by the bride and bridegroom.

The bride chose a blue sheath dress with matching duster and orchid corsage for her wedding trip to Richmond, Va.

The bride was graduated from Washburn High School and Husson College in Bangor. She was formerly employed by the Maine State Potato Co., in Presque Isle.

The bridegroom was graduated from Stewartsville High school, Va., and the International Business Machine School in New York. He is employed by I. B. M., in Richmond, Va.

The couple will live at their home at 3220 Park Avenue, Richmond, Va., after September 8.

Out of town guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Whitaker, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Moskowitz and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Zimmernman of Presque Isle; Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Wolfson of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Robbins of Fort Fairfield.
