Miss Phyllis Hay Becomes Bride At Fort Fairfield

FORT FAIRFIELD, June 10 [1957] -- Miss Phyllis M. Hay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon F. Hay of Washburn and Lawrence D. Ayoob, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Ayoob were united in marriage at St. Denis Church, Fort Fairfield. The Rev. Stephen Rice read the double ring service. The altar was decorated with baskets of white gladioli.

Miss Sadie Anne Coury, cousin of the bridegroom, sang "Mother At Thy Feet Is Krfeeling" and Ralph Cogswell, uncle of the bride groom sang "Ave Maria" and "Panis Angelicus." The organist was Miss Sadie Anne Coury.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of hand clipped Chantilly lace with mandarin neckline and long pointed sleeves, buttoned down the back with tiny lace buttons and a skirt of ruffled net and lace scallops over slipper satin. Her finger-tip veil of nylon tulle fell from a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white missal topped with lavender orchid.

Miss M. Andrea Ayoob, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor and wore a waltz length gown of blue dacron tissue and carried a bouquet of pink carnations.

The best man was Herbert Joseph of Waterville, cousin of the bridegroom. Ushers were Hollis Irvine of Fort Fairfield, and Vaughn McManus of Plaster Rock, N. B., cousin of the bridegroom.

The bride's mother. Mrs. Hay, wore a sheath dress of embroidered polished cotton with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. The bridegroom's mother Mrs. Ayoob wore a light blue lace gown with white accessories and corsage of pink carnations.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield.

The guest book was circulated by Miss Jacqueline Ayoob, sister of the bridegroom and the gift table was in charge of Miss Sandra Page of Gorham, and Peggy Furrow of Smyma, friends of the bride. The wedding cake was cut by Mrs. William Ayoob and served by Mrs. Vaughn McManus.

Refreshments were in charge of Miss Myrna Lewin and Miss Gail Carter of Washburn. friends

of the bride. Punch was poured by Mrs. Hollis Irvine. Carroll Parker played incidental music during the reception.

Mr. and Mrs. Ayoob left for a wedding trip to Fundy National Park in Canada after which they will be at home at 4 Summer Street in Orono.

The bride traveled in a beige and white dress with matching duster with white accessories complemented with a lavender orchid.

Mrs. Ayoob graduated from Washburn High School in 1956 and attended the University of Maine at Orono.

Mr. Ayoob is a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and attended the University of Notre Dame, Boston University and will graduate February 1958, from the University of Maine, Orono.
