Officiating at the double ring ceremony, was the Rev. Wesley Stuart, pastor of the church. Miss Mae Hanson, organist, played traditional wedding marches and accompanied Ronald Dow of Perham who sang, "Because" and "I Love You Truly."
The church was decorated with baskets of iris and bridal wreath and candelabra at the altar.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of lace and nylon tulle and a lace jacket and mitts. Her fingertip veil was attached to a pearl crown and she carried white
Bible with streamers topped with a white orchid.
The maid of honor was the bride's sister, Miss Caroline Umphrey, who wore a yellow ballerina length gown with a head wreath of flowers and carried a colonial bouquet. Miss Claudia Haines, cousin of the bride, and Miss Dolores Michaud, sister of the bride groom, were the bridesmaids. Miss Haines' gown was pale ping chiffon and Miss Michaud's was pale green chiffon. Both wore head wreaths of flowers and carried colonial bouquets.
Sheila and Bruce Parker, children of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Parker were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively. Sheila's was lace sheer nylon with bouffant slip and Bruce wore a white linen suit.
The bride's mother wore an aqua lace dress, yellow corsage and white accessories. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a linen beige dress with lace panels. Her corsage was red roses and her accessories, white.
Best man was Carl Smith. Ushers were the bridegroom's cousins, Allen Babin and Roger Thompson, all of Caribou.
A reception was held in the church dining room where pink and white streamers and wedding bells were used as decoration's.
After the traditional first piece of wedding cake had been sliced by the bridal couple, it was cut by
Cora Clark and served by Barbara Kennedy. Presiding at the gift table were Phyllis Miller, Linda Clark and Nancy Tarr. Judy Kidney was in charge of the guest book and Peggy Brewer dipped punch. Reubana Donovan, Linda McBreairty and Diane Haskell served at the refreshment table assisted by Mrs. Claude Haines, Mrs. Tom Plissey, Mrs. J. Wesley Stuart, Mrs. Maurice Parker, Mrs. Glen Haines and Mrs. James Plissey. Approximately 200 attended the wedding and reception.
Mrs. Michaud attended Washburn schools and Mr. Michaud Caribou schools. He is employed at the Maine Potato Bag Company at Caribou.
The couple planned to spend a week at Old Orchard and be at home in their apartment, 7 Elm Street, Caribou, after July 6.
