Anita Earle And Russell Smith Marry In Perham Baptist Church

PERHAM, June 19 [1959] -- Miss Anita Marie Earle became the bride of Russell Calvin Smith, Saturday evening at 7:30 o'clock, at the First Baptist Church, here. The Rev. Robert Brackley officiated at the two-ring service. Bouquets of pink and white gladioli decorated the alter.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frazier Earle of Washburn; Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Everett Smith of Presque Isle.

Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Merle Dow. Soloist was Ronald Dow.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a moire faille and Chantilly lace gown with fitted bodice, long pointed sleeves and sabrina neckline.

Her bouffant skirt was of floor-length design. She carried a white Bible, a gift from her parents, with white carnations and white satin streamers. Her gown was styled by her mother.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Norma Sperrey, the bride's sister. She wore a dress of pink embroidered taffeta trimmed with pink velvet ribbon at the waist. Her tiny headpiece was offset by her colonial bouquet of deep pink carnations.

Bridesmaids were Dawn and Judy Earle, the bride's sisters. They wore dresses of aqua embroidered taffeta, trimmed with narrow aqua velvet ribbon at the waist. Both wore tiny headpieces and carried colonial bouquets of pale pink carnations.

Best man was Ronald Sperrry. Ushers were Philip and Alfred Smith.

Flower girl was Carol Ann Blackstone attired in a dress of yellow embroidered taffeta with a headpiece of yellow flowers.

The bride's mother wore a pink sheath dress with matching jacket and white accessories. The bride-groom's mother wore a light blue print dress with white accessories.

Both wore corsages of white carnations.

The bride attended Washburn High School. The bridegroom was graduated from Presque Isle High School and is employed by the K & B Poultry Farm in Presque Isle. He is a member of the Maine National Guard.

A reception was held in the church vestry. Mrs. Dale Barber circulated the guest book. The gift table was in charge of Jill Fox, Nancy McIntire and Sandra Dow.

After the traditional first slice of wedding cake was cut by the bridal couple, the cake was cut by Mrs. Harry Johnson and served by Mrs. Ralph Irving, Mrs. Hazel Everett and Mrs. Gerald Everett. Mrs. Smith McIntyre and Mrs. Nathan Lewin served from the punch bowl.

The bride chose for traveling a soft pleated sleeveless turquoise dress with boat neckline. She wore a white jacket and white accessories.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Philip Smith, Steve, Jimmy, Sandy Jo, and Billy of Bangor.
