Ardis Burbee, Raymond Humphrey Wed In Crouseville Ceremony

WASHBURN, Nov. 9 [1959] -- The Advent Christian Church at Crouseville was the scene of a wedding October 31 when Miss Ardis Burbee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice H. Bugbee became the bride of Raymond A. Humphrey, son of Mrs. Nellie Humphrey and the late Raymond Humphrey.

Baskets of white gladioli and poms decorated the altar for the double ring ceremony, performed by the Rev. J. Edgar Hickel, pastor.

Mrs. Jack Stoddard, organist, played traditional wedding music and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. J. Edgar Hickel, who sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "I Love You Truly."

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a waltz-length gown of imported lace and tulle. It featured a lace fitted bodice, long pointed sleeves and a scalloped portrait neckline. Her nylon illusion veil was caught to a Juliet lace cap trimmed with seed pearls and sequins. She carried a white Bible centered with an orchid corsage and white ribbon streamers.

Miss Carolyn Bugbee, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a waltz-length gown of pink net over taffeta with matchinf head band and net stole. Her bouquet was a cascade of rose chrysanthemums.

The bridesmaids were Mrs. Marilyn Rundstrom, cousin of the bride, and Miss Laurie Bull and Miss Joyce Kenney. They wore waltz-length gowns of net over taffeta with strapless bodice, matching net stoles and headbands. Mrs. Runstrom wore yellow, Miss Bull wore blue and Miss Kenney wore lavender. Their bouquets were a cascade of chrysanthemums to match their gowns.

Donna Rae Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jones of St. Albans and niece of the bridegroom was flower girl. She wore a white and lavender dress of polished cotton with matching headband. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums with rainbow ribbon.

Russell Wayne Bugbee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Bugbee, and nephew of the bride; was ring bearer. He carried the rings on a white satin heart-shaped pillow.

Wayne Humphrey, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

Ushers were Wendell Humphrey brother of the bridegroom, Ray Vashon; brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Ronald Rundstrom, cousin of the bride.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Bugbee wore a blue jersey dress of Paisley print, with Navy accessories. She wore pom corsage. The bridegrooms mother wore a gray dress with white accessories and a white pom corsage.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Mission Building. Miss Penny Humphrey, sister of the bride-groom, circulated the guest book. In charge of the gift table were Mrs. Marilyn Vashon and Mrs. Eloise Jones, sisters of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Laurine Churchill presiding at the punch bowl were Miss Bonnie Plissey and Mrs. Carolyn McNeal, classmates of the bride.

Refreshments were in charge of Miss Ruby Bugbee, Mrs. Jean Page, Mrs. Francis Beaulieu and Miss Florence Bugbee.

After the traditional first slice of the wedding cake, made by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Jean Page, was cut by the bridal couple, it was cut by another aunt, Miss Florence Bugbee and served by Miss Maxine Drake and Miss Nancy Conley.

The couple left by car for a wedding trip to New Hampshire.

For traveling the bride wore a red knit suit, black accessories and an orchid corsage.

They are at home in Washburn.

The bride was graduated from Washburn High School in 1959. The bridegroom was graduated from Washburn High School in1958. He is employed by Dupram Farms at Washburn.
